Love Spread – Awards!
August 27, 2007 | Filed Under News
The results are in! Love Spread, our Romance movie made for the 48 Hour Film Festival, took home 3 awards on awards night, August 20th! We couldn’t be happier. Our little movie was awarded the following:
- Audience Favorite Award (for the 2nd night of movies)
- Best Use of Landmark
- Honorable Mention for Best Film
It was just great to get such a positive response from the audience, but to also receive any awards is equally gratifying especially since there were so many other great movies. This now makes our third Audience Favorite Award (one for each 48 Hour movie we’ve made). But we are also excited to have received honorable mention for Best Film! Very cool stuff.
We couldn’t have done it without the help of our friends and family, so here they are:
Sharon Salazar, Evelyn Huynh, Angie Higgins, Tom Shamrell, Drew Campbell, Andrew Lorenz, and Carrissa Wilson. Thank you all so much! And now, if you haven’t seen it yet, here is Love Spread!
48 Hour Film Festival – Love Spread

The San Jose 48 Hour Film Festival has come and gone. This was actually the first festival to take place in San Jose, and since it’s much closer for us, Jason and I had to participate. We started the project on Friday, 8/10 and ended on Sunday, 8/12. I can’t tell you how much better it is not to have to drive back and forth to San Francisco. It’s like an hour each way! When we do the SF festival, we call it, “The 46 Hour Film Festival”.
So, we pulled Romance as our genre and had a blast making it. We actually finished relatively early on Sunday, and spent some time just waiting until the time we could turn it in. I think it turned out pretty cute. It’s a very simple concept yet it’s pretty fun. I just love this picture I took of Angie and Tom during the filming of one of our montage scenes.
The movie was shown on the following Thursday in downtown San Jose, and the response was fantastic. We were very, pleasantly surprised. We will find out tomorrow night whether our film won any awards. In the meantime, you can make up your own mind by watching the movie by clicking on Tom’s face below:
